Quartz Bangers & Dab Nails
Flat top bangers, terp slurpers, and dab nails in quartz glass.
The banger is where the dab actually happens, and the right one makes a noticeable difference in flavor and ease of use. Quartz is the material most experienced dabbers use – it heats evenly, retains heat well, and doesn’t add anything to the taste of your concentrate. Quartz Bangers – Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What size banger do I need?
Most dab rigs use a 14mm female joint, which takes a 14mm male banger. If you’re not sure of your rig’s joint size, check the joint opening – 14mm is the most common by a wide margin. Gender matters equally: if your rig has a female joint, you need a male banger. If it has a male joint (less common), you need a female banger.
Q2: What’s the difference between a flat top banger and a terp slurper?
A flat top banger is the standard design – a bucket you heat, load your concentrate into, and cap. A terp slurper has a slotted dish at the bottom that draws concentrate up into the barrel for vaporization. Slurpers produce very little waste and work well with full melt concentrates, but require more technique to use well. Flat tops are more forgiving and a better starting point for most people.
Q3: Why does my banger keep turning cloudy?
That cloudiness is called devitrification, and it happens when you heat the banger too hot or torch it with residue inside. The fix is simple: wipe the bucket clean with a cotton swab after every dab while it’s still warm, and avoid heating it to glowing temperatures. Once a banger is heavily devitrified, heat retention suffers noticeably – at that point it’s worth replacing.
